Party Bus or Limousine: Which Suits Your Group?

A limousine is a car you travel in. A party bus is a room you travel in. That distinction decides most bookings.

Party Buses

Capacity and cost

Stretch limousines seat eight to ten; stretch SUV and Hummer limos fourteen to twenty; party buses twenty to forty. Because you pay for the vehicle rather than the seat, cost per person falls sharply as the group grows.

The crossover point is usually around eighteen people. Below it, a stretch SUV is often both cheaper and more intimate. Above it, a party bus wins on money and on atmosphere at the same time.

What the journey feels like

In a limousine everyone faces inwards in a low cabin. It is close, glamorous and good for a group that wants one conversation. It is not somewhere you stand up.

On a party bus there is standing headroom, a dance floor and perimeter seating, so several conversations happen at once and people move around. On a multi-stop night the travel between venues stops being dead time and becomes part of the evening.

The practical differences nobody mentions

  • Access. A party bus cannot enter every residential street, underground garage or venue forecourt. Pickup points get agreed in advance.
  • Photographs. A stretch limousine frames better in an arrival shot. A bus is a bus.
  • Luggage. Neither is a luggage vehicle. For airport work with bags, book an SUV or Sprinter van instead.
  • Availability. Buses and Hummers are the scarcest vehicles on peak dates, so they need the longest lead time.

Frequently asked

Which is better for a bachelorette party?

For a group above about fifteen, the party bus — people can move, the music works, and it handles a multi-venue route. For a smaller group, a stretch SUV limousine feels more intimate.

Is a party bus louder than a limousine?

It has a bigger sound system and more room, so yes if you want it to be. The volume is yours to set; the chauffeur only intervenes where it affects safe driving.

Can we book a party bus for an airport run?

You can, but it is rarely the right vehicle — luggage capacity is limited and the terminal roadways are awkward for large vehicles. A Sprinter van is usually the better answer for a group with bags.
