The supply problem, stated plainly
New Year's Eve is the single highest-demand night of the year for ground transport in Toronto, and the supply of limousines and party buses is fixed. Most vehicles are committed by late November; the good ones go earlier.
Minimum booking hours are longer than usual, and rates reflect a night when every vehicle and every chauffeur in the city is working. That is scarcity pricing, and it applies to rideshare too — except there it arrives as a surge multiplier at 1am when you are outside in the cold.
Build the night around the return, not the arrival
Getting downtown at 8pm is easy. Getting home at 1:30am, with everyone together, when a hundred thousand people want the same thing at the same moment, is the actual problem.
Book hours that extend past midnight to the end of your night, including individual drop-offs. A booking that ends at 12:30am solves the wrong half of the evening.

- Dinner then a party, with the vehicle held between them — the most common and the most reliable.
- Nathan Phillips Square for the public celebration, with a pickup point agreed well away from the closed streets.
- Niagara Falls, which runs a major New Year's event — a long night, quoted as a flat charter.
- House party circuits, where a party bus collecting from five addresses beats fifteen cars in a snowstorm.
Expect road closures downtown and agree pickup points in advance. On this one night, a chauffeur cannot improvise a stop on Queen Street.
