Sedan or SUV for the Airport? Count the Luggage First
Seat count is the wrong question. Three passengers fit in a sedan; three passengers with three large suitcases do not.

The luggage arithmetic
A luxury sedan takes two large suitcases and a carry-on comfortably, three at a squeeze with one on a seat. An executive SUV takes five or six large cases plus hand luggage without anyone holding anything.
The failure mode is predictable: three passengers book a sedan because there are three of them, arrive with three checked bags and three carry-ons, and the chauffeur has to solve an unsolvable problem at the terminal kerb.
Count bags before people. That single habit prevents the majority of airport vehicle changes.
When the SUV is worth it anyway
- Winter. Ride height and all-wheel drive make February on the 401 considerably less eventful.
- Skis, golf clubs, hockey bags or a stroller. None of these are sedan cargo.
- Four or more passengers. A sedan seats three, and the middle rear seat on a long airport run is nobody's friend.
- Elderly passengers. Higher seats are easier to get into and out of than low ones.
When the sedan is the better booking
One or two business travellers with a case each. It is quieter, it costs less, it is easier at hotel forecourts and downtown drop-offs, and it is the vehicle most executives actually prefer.
Bigger is not automatically better. A clean, quiet sedan arriving exactly on time beats an SUV every time when there is nothing to put in the back of the SUV.

How much more does an SUV cost than a sedan?
Meaningfully more, because it is a larger vehicle with higher running costs. For one or two passengers with normal luggage the sedan is the sensible choice; for a family arriving from a long-haul flight the SUV is worth every dollar.
